Along with all that has been said, I think a lot depends on the type of error also.
There are color errors, edge spots errors either missing or improperly placed, there are dual denomination chips, I even recall a post of an error where one chip had the names of 2 different casinos on it.

I think you might agree that some of these would command a much higher premium than others
