REPORT FROM THE BORGATA = LONG POST

We have returned. Some thoguhts. First: the fodd: the Speechio was excellent--food great; not inexpensive but beautifully presented. We should have known--need to make reservations long before coming--couldn't get into the Homsestead - the steak restaurant so ate both nights at Speechios. Because Bogata is so isolate, you eat there; you don't walk next door. Asian not my friend's cup of tea; Ombra--the wine bar was very nice--super cheeses--wine, excellent. The Gypsy bar is fun and fast food good.

No bar poker. No bars either--that are accesible after supper hour. Few cocktail waitresses; indeed couldn't "buy" a drink when playing slots; table games players had no problems. Obviously AC suits have learned that people don't need liquor--particualry free liquor to play.

The Fooms--the good: nicer than the average resort room--large; with walk in showers. The not so good; hasp lock was broken--told them Thrusday, Friday and Saturday--assured the engineers would take care of it. They didn't. But no one attacked us. No wash cloths on Saturday (apparently they were concerned we might check out Sunday and take them with us. grin )

The poker room: my friend does not play casino poker so neither did I. But each night the room was filled; games ranging from 1/2 Hold 'em to $30/60 (and I assume that higher games could be dealt); Omaha; Omaha Hi-lo; 7 Stud, $1-5 up to $20-$40. Thursday there were empty tables but long waiting lines - I assume that there were no dealers. The $1-5 and the smaller action Hold em seemed soft.

The gambline: Thiw was my first experience with an all "Ticket in/ticket out" system. My friend likes the 5cent/25 cent slots & Vid Poker so in one sense thiw was a benefit--no cups filled with nickels. But we like to play a partnership game with quarter vid poker--we put in $20, cash out and then play through the quaraters one at a time; when we complete our "stack" we share our wins - cashing otu and putting winnings in the buckets--can't do that with tickets, so that was a bummer for her. But otherwise the ticket systme is a plus.

I play Let it Ride but not for more than $10; Friday and Saturday, they did have one $10 table but the line to play was long. The tables games were $25 & up--too rich for my poor pockets.

The skinny. Yesterday, I checked my modest comps with the "My Borgata" and was given a small total and told they could be used on the hotel bill. Today when I checked out and tried to use the "comps" was told "You have no comps." That was BS but since the total of the "comps" was so small I did not argue--paid my $1,000 bill and left. But that was one cheap act by Borgata.

The Jitneys are great - over to the Boardwalk for $1.50.

All in all, enjoyed the glitz; but wouldn't stay there again.
