Loss Leader

Will is right! You have a collector come in a buy the $1.00, and then you need the $2.50, $5.00, $25.00 and the $100 to complete the set.

Why does Wal-Mart sell Hotwheels for less than what it cost to buy them? Because kids drag their parents to the back of the store, and you just might buy something else along the way.

I think a few of the casinos that produced $1.00 chips realized that even at 1500 some limited edition runs will not sell out.

Then the casino is stuck with racks of them and you have to have X dollars in cash to cover the chips (so now you have even more money wrapped up in chips).
