Here are some numbers for you...

So far, I've seen 10 auctions of SINGLE Sammy Hagar $25 chips that resulted in a final sale, with the average price being $1,697 per chip.

The Sammy's, however, were originally issued in sets of 4 chips, each with two $25 chips and two $5 chips. I've seen, coincidentally, 10 auctions of the sets of 4 chips which resulted in final sales and, discounting the $5 chips, which are of negligable value in the scheme of things, the average price of each $25 within the sets has been $1,158.

Regarding the value in The Chip Rack, the most recent 9th Edition of The Chip Rack was released on June 5, 2002... the Sammy chips were issued on May 17th of 2002 and do not appear in TCR.

Bottom line... the lowest price paid for a single Sammy $25 on eBay to date has been $1,424. I think if it's a chip you're looking for, the $1,000 price is pretty much a bargain.
