Re: Need Your Input
In Response To: Need Your Input ()

I am a new collector in terms of savvy but old having collected for a time. I intentionally picked up my first chip in 1985 (n3438) and joined CC>CC in 1994. grin

What I am not is “experienced.” sad My collection, until recently, was limited to chips I personally picked up at a casino. Their being genuine was not in question. A year or so ago I decided to fill in my collection with some casinos that were open when I started but are now closed and some I just didn’t get to. I bought some chips at auction and went to some chip shows. Of my 650+/- chips I personally picked up 500+/-, the other 150+/- has been purchased or given to me.

The basis of my “trust” dilemma is…
1. I read in the CC>CC magazine recently about possible re-manufacturing of chips(?).
2. I watched as the brass core issue unfolded.
3. I personally had a disappointing experience with a chip-person(?) involved in the hobby.
4. and, I’m afraid there is a lot more going/gone down I’m unaware of…

What I am talking about is that some chips I bought are in "super, mint condition" and they came from casinos that have long been closed. For example one chip I bought at auction was a duplicate of a chip I had actually picked up at the casino earlier but I wanted a better specimen for display. The purchased chip is so new looking I am thinking of using it as a trader and display the other one because it looks more real, if you understand.

All I want to know is that my chips are legit.

This may be an issue that should be brought up in a more appropriate venue, as at the June ccgtcc convention, if it hasn’t already and I missed it.

Regards,
Mike Heron
