Numismatic News article on HPA ...

Page four of this week's "Numismatic News" has published a news item that was submitted either by club Publicity Director Len Cipkins, or Club President Pincus.

GROUP WANTS CASINO CHIPS PROTECTED... is the headline;

An effort is underway to revise the Hobby Protection Act, and the Casino Chips & Gaming Tokens Collectors Club wants to make sure the umbrella expands to protect casino chips and other collectibles not specified in the current act.

According to Nate Pincus, CC & GTCC President, the group has launched a letter-writing campaign, encouraging its 2,800 world-wide members to speak their mind to those involved in assessing the current state of the act.

Pincus pointed out on April 15 that he knows of at least 15-20 individuals that have written already, but admits the campaign has just started.

The Federal Trade Commission has requested public comment on this issue, and individuals may contact the FTC through May 2, according to the casino chips collecting group.

"We hope to get some reaction," said Pincus, "to the point where the FTC will ask us for further information and ultimately our involvemeent in the process."

Besides hoping the Hobby Protection Act will be expanded to cover casino chips and tokens, Pincus would like to see it also cover other numismatic specialty items not currently listed int.
