England : Latest Chipping Trip and Chips on eBay

I have a few chips just listed on Ebay, most as a result of my recent chipping trips in England the most recent of which was to Great Yarmouth on the Norfolk coast and home to 2 casinos.

The old privately owned Kings Casino is now part of the Stanley empire, having been taken over last Summer. When I visited back in September, they had started refurbishment work in this small casino, and were using a mix of Stanley generic chips (fractionals and £1) and old and very battered Kings chips (£5 and upwards). When I went in last week that had completely changed over to the new style Stanley chips as seen in the scan. As for the refurbishment, well the place is definitely cleaner and a little brighter, but overall still very dingy! Stanley are definitely buying up so very downmarket casinos (see my previous report about their casino in Brighton), and it will be interesting to see how they perform.

The real reason of travelling to Yarmouth was to play in the Friday Hold-Em tournament at the Grosvenor casino, a renovated 19th Century Villa on the coast. Very nice building, and while a small casino even for UK standards, quite friendly. The poker tournament was a £20 hold-em game, paying prizes to the last 3 (winner was about £1500). 33 runners on 5 tables so not too crowded, 2 waitresses serving drinks very frequently and even a hot buffet at 11pm for anyone still around - I was knocked out just after 11 (pocket 6's - walked into pocket 8's), but those remaining in the tournament at 11:30 get a 20 minute break to have some food as well! There was even a TV close to my table (sound turned off though) showing Friday night's live football for those who were interested!

The casino itself uses a mix of Grosvenor and old Pleasurama and County Club chips (both since taken over by Grosvenor) and is a good place to stop for any chipper! I already had all of the chips in my collection, but still managed to pick up a few traders!

Also a couple of these on Ebay - feel free to bid!!!
