Several chippers on this board have e-mailed me to ask if I was ok after the incident that occured last night at Harrah's Rincon Casino and Resort. Last night a robbery suspect from Riverside County, CA led Sheriff's deputies on a chase that ended up, unfortunatly at Harrah's. While attempting to bar the gunman from entry, one of our Guest Safety Officers was shot, and died later from his wounds. Another employee was wounded in the leg, and is expected to make a full recovery. Moments after shooting these brave men, the guy turned the gun on himself.
I would like to say thank you for your concern, and yes, I am ok. I had already gone home for the evening when that coward killed a friend of mine before taking his own miserable life. As one would imagine, we were VERY busy on a Saturday night at 9:20PM. The courage of these employees likely prevented anyone else from being hurt. Harrah's remained closed until this afternoon. This was just a random act that happened to end up at our casino. While I wish that things were different, we live in a dangerous world.
