Re: Women do not belong in combat... period

.... "But I thank God I am not of the age that I must adapt to the new PC. I like my old fashion values and for the short time I have left, will adhere to them.

Remember how it was during the days of yore when the mothers stayed home to take care of the kids and run the household and the father was the breadwinner. I wish everything today was like it was in the 50's. But as you indicate or at least inferred, time doesn't reverse itself and all that's new is not necessarily good." ... Paul Sax

Paul; I'm 64 years old.... almost 65. I remember the 50's well. Looking back, it was the best of times ... and the worst of times. My racial attitude when I was growing up as a young man in New Jersey was not what it is today. I mentioned my experience as a telphone lineman in an earlier post. I resented the blacks coming in and taking the white man's jobs back then. I resisted the change to women in the traditional all-male bastion of Linemen, Repairmen, Installers. I was dead wrong on both counts then. I'm not proud of my attitude back then and I had to adjust ... or else be fired for not accepting changes and working with qualified people.

As a PBX repairman, I've worked in many, many local police departments under dispatch consoles where many girlie and porno magazines were stored... and in telephone terminals that were located in police locker rooms. I was exposed to lots of stuff that ordinary citizens were not. Conditions have changed dramatically in these environments today. They will change even more dramatically in the years ahead.

Today a woman can enlist in the armed forces if she so desires ... for whatever her reasons are. If she wants to be exposed to the hazards of warfare as her patriotic duty, that's her right. Women now fly combat missions over hostile territory and command space shuttles. Unheard of a short time ago We now have an all volunteer armed forces. Who am I (or you) to say a woman can't enlist and be exposed to battle conditions? We're no longer living in the 50's. You say that you "like your old-fashioned values" ... and that's fine. I didn't like mine and I made some adjustments.

We say that we don't like our women exposed to these dangers of war ... yet thousands of women kill their own flesh and blood each year via abortions... many of them who would have grown up to be women .... if given a chance.

Sometimes I think this society is very hypocritical when it comes to talking about mass destruction. Don't you?? Something to think about.

BTW: My apologies to those chippers who only want to read about their hobby on this bb. But until Greg Susong, the owner of this forum, changes the rules... I guess we'll all be subjected to what others want to talk about.

One guy said that he admired those who didn't rehash canned chatter. Well mine just came from the heart. I didn't hear it on the Fox channel or CNN.

Have a nice weekend... I'm gone for a few days.
