Prairie's Edge Casino Resort, Granite Falls, Minnesota, opened it's doors on 3-10-03. This casino is owned by the same Indian tribe that ran Firefly Creek Casino, located about 2 miles away from the all new Prairie's Edge. Firefly Creek Casino closed for good at 8:00 pm on 3-11-03. All Firefly Creek chips and tokens are now obsolete.

Prairie's Edge Casino Resort is about 50% larger than Firefly Creek. It has about 600 slot machines and 10 Blackjack tables. (Blackjack is the only legal table game in Minnesota). Attached to the new casino is a 4 story 89 room hotel.

Two disapointments:

Slot cards - generic white without a logo.
Change cups - also plain white.

A new $1 token is in use both on the tables and in the machines. Chips consist of Bud Jones $5, $25, $100 and $500. No grand opening chips were issued. Obtaining chips is a little bit of work, as they won't sell them from the cashier's cage. Nor would they sell a quantity of chips to a collector off of the table! Las Vegas, this ain't!
