I don't understand Airlines (Vegas related)

I'm working the drag races at LVMS April 3-6. I made my plane reservations this morning. The best deal I could get on a non-stop (or for that matter, flights with one stop) both ways was $307 out of Colorado Springs. I could have flown direct out of Denver for $20 less, which wouldn't make any sense due to the 2 1/2 hour drive each way, and long term parking at COS is $5/day versus $15/day at DIA.

Here's what I really don't understand. I have a voucher for a free round trip flight on Great Plains airlines, given to me after they canceled a flight home from OKC last October. It's a puddle-jumper fleet of two or three planes. I could use that voucher to fly to Albuquerque. This morning, I could book a round trip flight from ABQ to LAS for $154. ...with a stop (plane change) in Denver. ...on the same airline that wants $287 for a round trip ticket from Denver!

I went with the tickets that I did because jumping through hoops to catch the cheap flights thru ABQ would have meant two additional days away from my regular business.

Do airline ticket prices make any sense to any of you?!?
