Virgie Shannon was the wife of Frank Mantell, one of the true pioneers of this hobby. At one time, I would say he was the biggest chip and token dealer in the country. When I thought I was the only one in the world saving these things, I found Frank at a coin show at the Sahara with a large display of chips and tokens. To show you how far ahead of his time Frank was, this was around 1981. He retired from the chip business around 1995, and I maintained a close friendship with Frank until he passed away last year. Virgie still lives in Las Vegas.
