I just got thinking of this when looking at the great find of a $25 Diamond Jims chip below. (please read my post about this)
This has the larger edge inserts to match my $5 black in my Official Price Guide 3rd issue.
I figure the smaller inserts are the 2nd issue.
What are some opinions on which are older large or small edge inserts?
I should be specific & ask for just Christy & Jones mold. I know most older chips tend to be larger inserts in various molds.
Also some chips of the C&J mold are 3 inserts vs. 4. Example Thunderbird 6th issue with 4 & 7th I am sure is later with just 3.
Later chips went with double colors or 3 or 4 colors next to each other.
In just quickly looking at some chips around & flipping through my color pages in my book most chips just have 3 inserts.
Older chips, 40's & 50's were many times just 2.
