Re: Monte Carlo Small Key Where's it from?

Hi James, check out Steve Blust's Reno COTD a few posts above. Larry Hollibaugh just obtained a $1 Monte Carlo, SM-KEY, Dk Red with 3-Blue which is from the same set as your Black with 3-Blue, SM-Key. Larry's $1 SM-KEY and Steve's $1 DIECAR have the same, identical hot-stamp. Furthermore, both TCR and your fine book, have the $1 DIECAR listed as a Reno chip. You have it as the 4th issue on p. 215 in your 2nd Ed. It is in TCR-9 on p. 193 as a 1970's chip, posted from my collection. I got the chip years ago, from Bob Bickford. Howdy Herz had it in one of his early 1990's auctions, as a Reno chip, too. As Larry H. pointed out to me, it is the only DIECAR chip listed as a Monte Carlo, Reno. At this point, I am not sure that it is a Reno chip or if it is from the same location as the SM-KEY chips with the same hot-stamp. I would be interested in your opinion and if you or anyone else, could determine the proper locations. It's a jungle out there. Surprises behind every tree. grin
