John, A question or two first. Are you running just Norton antivirus or Norton System works? How old is your software? Do you still have an active subscription with Norton?

If your subscription has expired you will not be getting your live updates until you update your software and subscription. If your are runnning System works go to the icon on your desktop and run update first then the one button checkup. Click the Norton Anti Virus button and it will give your all the info about your last scan and what things you have activated, also your subscription expiration date and your last definition update date and whether you have the auto live update enabled. Next do a system status check by clicking on the norton utilities button. Also click on the extra features botton and run the system security check.
Beyond all of this go to norton help and they will either help thru their standard FAQ's or the chat line or the tech email service. Or as a last resort phone in for a fee service.
