Chip ID update

I sent a note to the library in Benld, IL after Gene Trimble posted who got these chips........

Hi,
I'm trying to find out if your library has any
information about a restaurant or club called the Log
Cabin. It would have been open in the late 1930's or
early 1940's. I'm trying to tie an address to the chip
image I've attached. The chips were delivered to a Joe
Deambrogo in Benld, Ill. in 1938. That is all I know.
Do you have any old city directories or phone books
that might list his name or the address of the Log
Cabin. This was an "Illegal" gambling joint so these
chips may have been sent to Deambrogo in Benld to be
used anywhere in that area, even near St. Louis. I know
this like looking for a needle in a hay stack. Any
info would be appreciated.
Best Regards
Roy Klein in Cincinnati

Her reply.........
The Log Cabin was located in the 200 block of East Central Ave. I am
not sure on the exact address. Inside there were small "log cabins"
from what I am told. I do not know the name Joe Deambrogo - but I will
check through some records. We are in the process of putting together
the history of Benld. Benld will be 100 years old in 2004. I have seen
several chips from different places in Benld. Benld has a history for
bootlegging and they story that Capone was once here. There are parts
of an old still in the outlaying area. Benld has a very colorful
history! I will keep looking, if you do not hear back from me a few days,
please send me another message.
