One could easily argue Limited Editions opened the door for slabbing companies to take interest in "our" hobby. If 95% of all chips have a value of less than $5 and another 2-3% are house chips that have "actual" value, then only 2-3% of all chips have the "potential" to be slabbed. NOW, add Limited Editions to our hobby. A smart saleperson from a slabbing company would sign contracts with the casinos to slab their Limited Editions as they're issued. The slabbing companies make money, the casinos make money and NOW there's an instant secondary market! There would also be a lot of NEW collectors collecting chips (now's there's REAL money to be made). The hobby will grow fast... MORE and MORE Limited Editions WILL be produced. would be all over the media! But like all other hobbies that have chosen to slab, the bubble will burst. There won't be any collectors, only the investors and speculators that have inventory on hand they can't sell!
