Re: COTD - The Chips of Howard Hughes

Charles,
People have to keep in mind that there are several versions of the Howard Hughes story as far as his time in Las Vegas & his departure. Bob Maheu has his version & there are a couple of others. I just bought a June 1st, 1971 Look Magazine from Jim Steffner off of eBay with Hughes on the cover. I have read a lot about Hughes. It's a fascinating story & the fact that I had an Uncle named Howard Hughes makes it even more interesting to me. In the Look article there are even some things I had not read before. They say in the article that he walked down the fire escape stairs. Also, that even though he got on a stretcher to get on the Plane that there was nothing wrong with him.

One thing I learned while doing my Holiday Contest this year was who Summerlin here in Las Vegas was named after. Do you know? grin Answer below. Andy - Las Vegas

In 1996, the old Husite property was renamed for Hughes' grandmother, Jean Amelia Summerlin.
