It took me a while to find the post quoted below, written by Katie Smith in reaction to someone posting on this BB. She was responding to someone who was having misgivings about joining the club due to disagreements that people in this forum sometimes have with each other. The only difference would be in the forum being discussed, one (in your case) is the CC & GTCC forum (meant to be used for the discussion of club-related matters) and The Chip Board, meant for free-form discussion. Katie posted this in July of 2000.

Can you honestly say that you really like or get along with EVERY ONE
in your family....including that inlaw that always drinks too much at
Thanksgiving and p*sses everyone off....and even though you wouldn't
necessarily pick that inlaw to be a friend...he/she is still part of
the family....

What you see here on the board....is really no different. Some of these
people have known each other for longer than I have been alive...and
although they (we) fight like any other family....we're still here...
..and believe it or not...many of the names you see on this board would
do just about anything for their chipper friends.

I hope you decided to join....because these are good people....and remember,
if Uncle Fred has too much to drink and you don't like what he's saying...
you can always leave the room and be with the rest of the family..."
