Would you believe that's what I've been doing today as well! I'm trying to get my Kyocera phone that came with the VIRGIN service to dial up. I bought the cable and software from Kyocera and it should work, although only at 19.2. I can talk to the phone and get responses to AT commands but so far cannot dial up anything. Will continue the project and report when I complete it.

Regarding dialup time, the 10c a minute on the Virgin plan doesn't seem exhorbitant for travel purposes. That's $6 an hour. I pay at $10-25 a day for use of the internet connection at most hotels.
