My poor little brain is still debating whether I should purchase a chip over $100... if I buy a $500 or $1000 chip now, and then the casino retires the rack... what happens to the value of my chip?

I received an e-mail from John Chamberlain offering some nice chips at face plus a very small premium... and I keep opening it, look then... close... open, look then... close. It's really hard to see the offer and not pull the trigger... but my little brain keeps telling me to learn a little more about the hobby before I drop more than a couple hundred on 1 chip.
