How do I handle this "virus?"

Can anybody tell me the correct way to handle the following message? I got an e-mail today that said: "Hi. I am afraid to say that a virus has been passed on to me by a contact. my address book has in turn been infected. since you are in my address book, there is a good chance you will find it in your computer too. I followed the directions below and eradicated the virus easily.
The virus called jdbgmgr.exe is not detected by Norton or McAfee anti-virus systems. The virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. it is sent automatically by messenger and
by the address book, whether or not you sent emails to your contacts." I found the "jdbgmgr.exe" with a teddy bear icon in my C:/Windows/System file, but I recall hearing a story about a person who deleted a file when he got a message like this and later found out he'd been tricked into deleting a file his system needed to operate. How do I know if the file is good or bad? Any experts out there who can help?
