Poker questions (NCR)

Having lead a sheltered life up until now ( grin ) I'm trying to learn to play poker by using one of the online casinos that let you use play money to play for fun. It's set up so I pick a table to join, and play with other live players who are online at the same time. It got me to wondering whether any casinos in Las Vegas or elsewhere have set up networked poker machines, where the player would play against other people who were on machines elsewhere in the same casino. I know it wouldn't be nearly as much fun as playing a live game, but there are a lot of people who play the 21 and stand alone poker machines that don't go near the live tables. I guess there would be the logistics problems of having enough players wanting to play the same stakes at the same time, unless you could network the machines with another casino, similar to the Megabucks machines...

Another question... I've been playing Texas Hold'em online. Is that the most common type of live poker played in Las Vegas?
