Email problems Friday 1-3-03 ...

Problem arose because of my recent move, in which I moved out of a Pacific Bell (SBC) service area into a Verizon service area. This, of course, means that I no longer have a PacBell billing account. Apparently, PacBell will not bill their internet service independent of a regular phone bill -- of which I was not aware.

They say they sent me an email on December 19th advising that I would either have to activate a PacBell phone account by January 3rd or give them a credit card number for automatic billing of the internet service. Unfortunately, I had some problems with my email on December 22nd and lost everything that came in during the time period December 19-22, so I can't say for sure that I didn't get it. In any event, I never read it.

Furthermore, they sent no follow up notice (either by email or regular mail), so when the deadline came on Friday, they just shut my service down. Which also wiped out my home page and about 15 hours worth of work posting images (including the drilled slabbed chip, which is why you may not see it for awhile sad until I can redo the home page).

Since the billing office was closed over the weekend, I couldn't fix the problem until this morning.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused to anyone.
