Re: Freeport-Lucaya, Bahamas
In Response To: Freeport, Bahamas ()

Bob, the last I heard is that the developer has not yet found an operator. London Clubs was in the plans at first, but that's now history.

The casino building (very small and not part of the 'Our Lucaya Resort' operation) has been completed for well over a year now and just sits there collecting dust.

My advice:

Still visit the 'Our Lucaya' if only to pick up room keys, as there are several different (some are series of three); one even mentioning the casino. You can take a taxi ($8 each way) or take the local mini-bus behind Burger King for a buck.

The bus drops you off just outside of the property (the old Holiday Inn) which is comprised of three buildings: the old Holiday Inn; a huge complex where the Atlantik stood... and last but not least, the house that Lansky built (the original 1964 property) where the only thing remaining is the lighthouse atop the roof.
