Not too many people are aware of this but I believe there are two types of these Mapes roulette chips. I call them "wide spaced letters" and "close letters". The ones in your scan are all "wide letters" except the Orange which is "close letter" variety. The spacing difference is most noticable in the R E N O. Also the letters in the wide variety are thinner. I have all the same colors of the wide variety you show, plus Orange for a total of 7 colors.. I don't have the Purple you show. That would make 8 different wide ones. In the close variety I have Dark Green, Red and Orange(same as the one you show in your scan). From the Hank Boss collection Auction. #048E and #048I are the close variety. All the others are the wide variety. The Dark Peach color would be a different wide variety color, making a total of 9 wide colors. From what I see in the scan, plus what I have and the ones shown in the Boss Auction it look s like 12 different (9 wide letters and 3 close letters). A little confusing but that's it.
