Allan, I guess you picked up the 8-insert version
In Response To: I Have Both! ()

recently, as it was not in the TCR until after I located one. I'm curious, can you tell me where you got yours? This is the first time that I have received information about another one in someone's collection, and I've asked the question before.

In the TCR you carry it as an "O" valued chip. I believe that was based on my having one. Now that you have one, I have three* and I heard of one other, do you still have it valued as an "O" for TCR X (10)? Also, aare you aware of others?

Thanks,

Jim Follis

* At the present time I desire to hold all three. One is in OK condition (used, but BJ CIC chips last forever). One has a visible crack that is on one side, running from the inner edge (next to the CIC) to about 3/4's of the way to the outer edge. The third has unseen damage. Evidently, BJ CIC chips are molded without the CIC in-place. At some point in the manufacturing process, two CIC disks are placed back-to-back and then inserted into the molded plastic ring. One side of the plastic ring, at the inner edge, is larger than the other side, so that the CIC disks do not fall out. Once the CIC disks are in-place, a small, plastic retaining ring is place put into place to hold the CIC disks. I do not know if the retaining ring is glued into place or hot sealed into place, but the one I have (with hidden damage) has a retaining ring that is held in-place at one spot. Although it is 100% all there, it can be pryed up and the CIC disks can be removed.

I imagine if I glued it back, the chip would 100% restored, but I am not inclined to do that.
