Re: Club Bingo Chip theory (Large Scan)

Good Evening Ed,
I will try to answer a few of your questions while at the same time shed a little history involving the Club Bingo when it was located in downtown Las Vegas.

First of all the Club Bingo was NEVER licensed for any table game except blackjack. Most of the time it only operated one blackjack table however an additional table could be, and was, brought into play on weekends or when the need should arise.

The blue small crown chip was a promotional chip given out to potential customers. Often a street "barker" standing in front of the club would hand out the chip to be exchanged for a free bingo card inside. The barker never told you it was necessary to purchase a specific card before you could get the "free" card.

The non denomination C & J inlay was given out to customers who would win at bingo to be exchanged at future bingo sessions for free specific cards that entitled you to purchase additional cards.

As Don L. pointed out silver quarters and dollars were used instead of chips.

The 12 1/2 cent chip was created to pay a "blackjack" when someone would bet 25 cents. Yes, 25 cent blackjack was a specialty at Club Bingo. After all the strip had a minimum wager of $1.00 where downtown had 25 and 50 cent blackjack as well as 10 cent roulette.

I remember the fun I had playing 25 cent blackjack and looking at one of the most beautiful (woman) dealers I had ever seen. She was the most beautiful woman I have or ever have had the opportunity of speaking too. She was a big draw and the management new it. I wonder what ever happened to her.

I hope this helps clear up a few of your questions. My first wife enjoyed playing bingo at Club Bingo and I spent many hours playing 25 cent blackjack waiting for her. Best, Mr. "P"
