I agree, but ...

... the problem isn't what you may decide to do with a chip in your own personal collection, Jim... You know full well it's with a person who may "repair" 12 of these Brass Core drilled chips by completely removing the plastic in order to get down to the slug and then decides: "We'll, I'm tired of looking at this chip when it was green and I think I'll just change it to orange." This is where the problem starts, because YOU nor anyone else (with perhaps the exception of whomever the "altered" chip is sold to) would know exactly what was done with that chip once it leaves the hands of the person who made the alteration.

Historically (recently), these "altered" Brass Core chips have caused unrest within our club and hobby, Jim, and values of Brass Cores have dropped... and you can stand on your head till the cows come home by saying that there's nothing wrong with these "repairs" providing there is disclosure. You nor anyone else knows what may transpire between a buyer and seller of "altered" chip orders unless you are present.

It's one thing to say how beautiful the poppies look in the fields while in full bloom, Jim, without addressing how ugly they turn once "altered" and brought to a schoolyard.

We don't need these problems in our hobby.....

...and, YES, to answer your past question: "So we need to tell someone every time a chip is repaired?" Not exactly, but we sure do especially once it's been "repaired" and no longer looks like it did prior to the repair. Do yo know have a problem with such chips with drastic changes being coded or recorded (marked)? I see no problem with discussing standards in this respect (alterations, repairs or whatever, Jim.
