Re: New Florida Boat
In Response To: Re: New Florida Boat ()

Bob: I based my information on the article
concerning M/V Texas Treasure found under www.islanddawn.com/id/history.shtml. This article
relates to the ship being sold to Sea Excape of
Florida in 1990 and renamed "Scandinavian Sky II".
After a five month conversion she sailed to Freeport, Bahamas as the "Scandinavian Dawn" and
arrived there in 1990 where a few more alterations
took place. She then began to operate out of Florida.
Eventually she was bought by the Discovery Line when SeaEscape went bankrupt. She was then named
"Discovery Dawn".
Later in 1998, she was renamed "Island Dawn", but during that year she ended up being laid up again after adeal didn't work out where she would have gone to New York as a casino ship, but instead she remained in Freeport.
In October of 1999, she sailed to the sunny Texas Gulf coast & began operations out of Port Isabel, as the Casino Del Mar.
This article includes pictures of the ship under
several different names.
I am only quoting from the article which was written by Mike T. Santos. At mikes@islanddawn.com. If his information is in
error -- then my comments are also incorrect.
