I actually remember seeing Phyllis Diller on Groucho's show when she was a housewife looking to become a comedian. She told Groucho what she wanted to do....it raised his already raised eyebrows! 
I remember when winning on "Queen For A Day" meant getting a washer and dryer for the winner's home. That was a serious prize!
Yes Kerry, I am that old. Got an application form from AARP in the mail last week, and I now fit the criteria to become a member!
