...red Chipcos bleed. They bleed onto flips. They bleed onto each other in a stack. The loss of red from the chip is not the worst part, though. The worst part is the damage from putting red where it doesn't belong. Obviously, chip-to-chip bleeding will do this. My experience with flips is that chips tend to rotate in them, and red migrates back off the flip onto non-red areas of the chip. I don't know about the plastic film on cardboard holders.

I now store all my chips in air-tites. The plastic is not in such tight contact with the chip, and chips are held snugly by the foam ring, so they can't rotate.

Another problem with flips occurs with Bud Jones chips where the ink is on the surface of the chip, unprotected. These include chips like the newest Reno Hilton and Harrah's LEs. After long-term contact with a flip, the ink actually sticks to the flip, and can be torn off of the chip when you try to remove it. This can cause some serious damage. I've also seen this with the 80 pocket books Don Leuders used to sell.
