Re: Question concerning clay/ plastic

You can tell by the weight, feel and appearance. During the late 30's and into the 40's, they were making a transition chip, which was a mixture of clay & plastic. Most were interlocking and had a heavier and thicker feel than the all plastic. Machined chips were transition chips but were easily ID'ed by the concentric circles like a phonograph record.
