Re: sad Enough to make a grown man cry! sad

Kerry,
I LIKE your new acquisitions! grin We like the old, historic, used stuff! Someday I'd like to have the large crown Pioneer, I think we have the $5 Nevada Club (drilled, I think?).

My husband and I just got back from 17 days in Nevada, and one of the things we did was go into the old part of the Horseshoe, to see some of the old Apache Hotel! sad Forgot the camera sad You can see some old leaded glass windows, that were probably there during the Apache days....and, from the inside, you can still see the fire escape attached to the outside of the building (hidden behind the neon, from the outside).

We also went to the "special collections" of the Leid Library at UNLV. We didn't have much time, but we were there long enough to learn that the Las Vegas Opera House was located "on the site of the old Beckley Store 25-27 Fremont Street". We also looked at some of the pictures of OLD Las Vegas....a "must visit" spot for anyone interested in old Las Vegas gaming history.

We didn't buy a lot of stuff this trip sad , but one thing we DID get was a dinner plate from The New Cal-Vada Lodge grin (Crystal Bay 1951-55). We also found an old bingo card from Robbins Nevada Club (Reno 1941-46). Annnnnnd...we played Chuck-a-Luck at the Horseshoe!! We'd never seen the game before, but had seen references to it in old souvenir gaming guides. I'd rather play video poker, and my husband would rather play blackjack or shoot craps....but it was fun to see an old game revived.

Thanks for sharing your scans, it gave me a good excuse to talk about our vacation! vbg
Pam
