What is readers' advice on the plastic chip tubes that hold 20 chips? Do these tubes contain any PVC or anything else that might damage the chips down the road?

I have around 5,000 chips in the plastic flips (that contain PVC) and I am researching alternatives. I considered cardboard 2½ x 2½ flips, but I am also thinking about space limitations. The tubes take up a lot less space.
