Re: I can undertsand why they were reluctant

Punto Banco is Baccarat but with two exceptions .
1) It is played against the House
2) There are no optional coups

If you bet on the ' Player ' you get even money if it wins .
If you bet on the ' Bank ' you get 95% profit if it wins .
This was introduced to my first club in England in 1975 on a BJ table with an extra square chalked beneath each box . We didn't have 5p chips ( the minimum was £1 ) so used coins for what we called the bank 'tax'

The 'Prison ' thing - I thought - died out a few years back , but basically if zero comes up , all bets on the even chances are moved by one of the two ( or sometimes three ) dealers to the dividing line between the even chance and the dozen .This cannot be removed .
If the next number corresponds to that even chance , the bet is replaced on that chance and the player can do what he wants with it .
If the next number is different to the even chance , the bet goes to the house .
If zero repeats , the bet is usually moved to the corner of the dozen to indicate the bet is in 'Double Prison ' and the even chance must come up twice before the player can reclaim or bet .
I never got to learn the procedure for a 'Triple Prison ' but I'm sure there was one .
