In the process of trying to sell my business I was told by the buyer that that the UCC-1's that were filed when my equipment was used as collateral for loans were still active even though the loans had been paid off. The Secretary of State told ME that I could release these UCC-1's by simply faxing her a form. I told her that I wasn't the leinholder and she said that it didn't matter and that anyone could release them. No wonder the state of Tennessee if in financial trouble.
