We are coming up on the first anniversary of a day, which probably, in one way or another, changed many of our lives forever. Maybe it’s just the realization that it can happen here. Maybe a loss of life effected you directly. Maybe you feel a bit more relief every time you fly, when the plane lands safely. For most of us…whether the changes have been big or small...things are just not the same as they were prior to September 11th, 2001.

A few months after these horrible events, the Opera House Casino in North Las Vegas released a very limited No Cash Value set of three oversized chips…one red, one white and one blue. The purpose of this chip set was originally to raise funds for charitable organizations that were specifically designed to aid those directly effected by the terrorist attacks. The suggested charitable organization list was quickly expanded to include military and patriotic organizations, and ultimately, ANY charitable organization of the purchaser's choosing. As an example, a recent donation was made to a Virginia area Make-A-Wish foundation.

This project has raised over $7,000 to date. The biggest benefactor has been Camp Comfort Zone, a bereavement camp for children.

Like many things in life, these results to date can be viewed as a glass being half full, or half empty. We still have approximately 70 unsold sets. At $100 per set, we have the potential to raise an additional $7,000 to increase our total to our original goal of $14,000.

I recognize that many of us have charitable commitments already. I’d simply like to ask that you re-examine your position to see if you can help in this cause.

To review the particulars…no one is profiting from this venture. All proceeds (100%) above direct costs will go to the charity the purchaser specifies. A minimum donation of $100 + $3.50 for P&H, $103.50 total is requested. Sets can be picked up at the Opera House Casino in North Las Vegas. SEPTEMBER INCENTIVES

Anyone ordering a set in September can deduct $9.11 from the minimum donation, if they would like. Therefore, you can send a total of $94.39; P&H included, for your set, in September only.

All sets will also come with a $100 plastic Bellagio chip used in the recent movie, Ocean’s 11.

Anyone ordering a set in September will also receive a Nevada obsolete chip with a value code of "G" ($25 to $29) according to Chip Rack #9.

Finally, anyone ordering a set in September will also have the ability to purchase a very scarce, recently issued Nevada Limited Edition chip, at its face value.
