Don; I still have probably over 100 overprinted cancelled CHIPCO's. Bought them years ago from a small mail-order dealer in Wyndham, Maine who runs periodic token auctions. His trade name is "Fat Cat Tokens". He says that CHIPCO used to have barrels of this stuff. Some of them are pretty interesting.... as are the cancellations.

Besides the star cancellation you have mentioned ... lots of cancellations were from the old Western Collectibles Club that Armin, Mel and Charlie had formed years ago. Plus I have many cancellations of a Sturgis South Dakota Campground. I found quite a few ink cancelled high denomination chips from El San Juan Puerto Rico with cowboy, horse, and Indian cancellations.... many of which I have sold for $2 & $3 each. I also had at one time many Caesars Las Vegas roman numeral CHIPCO roulettes with ink cancellations that sold real quick.

Some cancellations were of a chip from one casino overprinted on another casino. $5000 Desert Inn comes to mind.

I remember Bob Mera had quite a few of these chips... especially the Atlantic City hardly noticeable, but very slightly notched specimens ... and CHIPCO wanted most of them back as some had been cashed in at the Caesars cage. I recall a $100 black Caesars CHIPCO chip I had that was barely notched 3 times around the edge that I sold for $25. CHIPCO offered to replace Bob's notched A.C. chip inventory with Nevada notched samples ... but when Bob received their replacement package ... the Nevada notched specimens that he received in exchange were VERY severely notched chunk specimens with CHIPCO advertising on the other side. Boy was he pi**sed!

Now if there were a way to remove those pesky ink cancellations .... hey David W. ... are you listening???
