Here we go...what if someone actually bids on this thing? Would any of us be crossing a line if we notified the bidder, letting him/her know the true origin of it?

As it stands, the chip is being falsely represented, and per Doug's post, the seller has no intentions of correcting the description. I feel obligated to inform a bidder so that he/she doesn't make a terrible buying decision.
