I am not characterizeing it as anything. And I am not measuring chips!!!!! OK OK I'll measure it!
It measures 2/3 of the way from the tip of my right index finger to my 1st knuckle. Strange, but it measures different if I use my left index finger. So, just measure 2/3 of the distance on your right index finger and you will have the size of the chip!!!!

I had never noticed the mold because I did not look that close at chips I already had. Allan M and Robert E had not noticed it either.

Conclusion:
We now know the size of the chip per Trimbles finger.
Its not a new mold.
Its new to Trimble.
Its the 129th different mold in Trimbles mold file.

Geez, I just remember why it measures different on my 2 fingers. I lost the tip of my left index finger 1/3 of the way to the 1st knuckle way back in 1961.
