Chip Story #2 8/7/02

Buy a chip off eBay for $2.49 and $2 S&H. The chip was about a $10-12 chip but the guy was getting his back-door profit from the S&H. Week and a half and his manila envelope arrives with a thank-you and a sturdy plastic sleeve and the torn impression of the now missing chip that was ripped out during the machine sorting. Sigh, familiar event, right? Email the seller and he sez another on the way. As to my suggestion that he use bubble mailers he tells me that in spite of the PO warning of the exact event I have described, he was worried about his mailing expenses and includes a miserly breakdown of costs. He didn't factor in replacement postage, another lame envelope or an additional blinkin' chip either. Time to sharpen your pencil guy! grin
