Yep, Las Vegas for a weekend seminar! I leave tonight for a three day (Fri., Sat. and Sun.) seminar/conference/convention over at the stunning Alexis Park Hotel (nope, no casino).

This gathering is an annual event and goes by the name of DEFCON. This will be DEFCON X. In short, it is a computer hackers conference. Attendance is purported to be 50/50. Half hackers (with fake names) and half law enforcement (also with fake names).

I find it interesting that they do not have on-line registration, nor do they have snail-mail registration. Just show up and register. The cost is $95.00 for the three days and guess what.....? They only accept cash! Seems they have been hit with too many bogus checks and invalid credit card numbers. Geez, go figure.

Since pre-registration was not done (I guess there will be no Hard Rock NCV chips) anyone in town may drop in and register. Just be carefull how you dress. They play a game called "Spot the Fed!" Not sure what they do if they find one.
