Collecting's In The Blood!

Just some thoughts while it's quiet. Although my chip collection is growing at a rapid rate (probably faster than my finances really allow!), I've been thinking about how collecting is in my blood and whether others are the same. As my wife says, once a collector always a collector! Actually, she started me off on chips - having been to Vegas a few times, I kept some dollar tokens as souvenirs, but she remarked that the chips had nicer designs and didn't seem to damage as easily. So it's her fault!!!

It started in school with stamps, but that kinda died out quickly. But since then, I've amassed large collections of football programmes and memorabilia, sci-fi books (Isaac Asimov) and now chips. And I never seem to do things in a small way. My football collection, which I've started to list on Ebay in order to 'feed' my appetite for chips, goes back to the 40's, and even though the newer items were picked up at matches when I used to go regularly (i.e. pre-family), probably 80% are from games which I never attended (hell, about 25% are from games before I was born!).

I'm determined to keep hold of my Sci-fi books, including a number of first editions, because I do actually re-read them occasionally (although my young daughter doesn't know that they are worth money and so I can't read until late at night when she's in bed!).

At least I can have chips out while my daughter is about as they are sturdier, although I do have a few home poker chips which I keep handy in case she desperately wants to play with them!

Anyway, lots of ramblings, but I just kinda wonder how many of you have always collected something, and it's now chips that you've settled on.
