"How much different is it from kitchen table poker?"
I'd say the biggest difference is table etiquette. There are a bunch of "do's and don'ts" in casino poker.
The second biggest difference is some of the people you may be playing against in a casino play poker for a living. They play every day, and are less likely to go on tilt, forgetting what they know and emptying their wallets.
One of the keys to playing winning casino poker is patience. When I was working as a prop player, there'd be times where I'd fold every hand without betting for an hour or two. If you aren't getting cards that you can realistically play, you have to toss 'em. That can be tough to do, because you want to play, that's why you're sitting at the table. But, if you start chasing hands to the river because you're bored, more often than not you'll lose.
