In the article I talk about the various "motivations" that we all have for collecting. The different motivations behind our collecting habits effect and define what we "really collect" vs. what we "say we collect".
Some people are true "collectors" (they have to have every single piece), while others are more of an "accumulator" (they pick up pieces casually and ignore the holes in their collection). Some people approach collecting as more of an "investment" (they only want the good stuff).
In my opinion, it is as important for us to know how a person collects as it is to know what a person collects. It defines for me the amount of time and effort I want to spend trying to put together that trade. Can you relate to this?
