Howdy,
Some good answers here, but let me expand.
For Gambling in Portland you'll never get someone to post in public where to gamble in Portland.
As for where to go, Spirit Mt is the biggest full service casino around and with Chinook Winds just a hop, skip and jump away it is a good call.
Card Rooms in Washington are only allowed to have house banked card games and poker. No craps or anything like that. You see lots of BJ, Caribian Stud, Lucky Ladies, Spanish 21... They can have a maximum of 15 tables.
If you are interested in going North then La Center is the place. However, it all depends on what you want to play. La Center has 1 card room that spreads Poker and they only have 7 tables. On a Friday or Saturday night you can wait up to 2 to 3 hours to get a seat.
From Vancouver, which is where I live and just over the water from Portland:
Double Down
The Palace
The New Pheonix
The Last Frontier are all in La Center 23 miles
Cadillac Ranch Casino
Longview 40 miles
Cleopatra's Wild Grizzly Casino
Kelso (right next to Longview) 40 miles
Another good site to go to is below. Go to the casino section by state and it lists most of the casinos and card rooms with addresses and phone numbers. Compare it to the list found here (http://www.wsgc.wa.gov/docs/cardroom/HBcr.htm) to see which card rooms have how many tables. Some have just a few (1 - 5) while others have the entire 15.
I have all the milage worked out for every legal card room/casino in Washington from my home (I think). So if there is one you are wondering about, let me know.
When you are in Seattle you should visit the Emerald Queen. It is a Native American casino that won't be around too much longer. They will be building a new one on land and getting rid of the floating one. Those details were just presented to the Washington State Gambling Commission (WSGC) with lots of local approval.
Two more things to keep in mind. One, card rooms in Washington can only operate for 20 hours per day. Call ahead, unless you are going to La Center as there is always one open there, however Poker is only spread until 03:30. I say only, because I work Graveyard and on my nights off...oh well. Secondly, there are two kinds of Native American Casinos in Washington. Those that have signed Compacts and those that have not. The ones that haven't are considered illegal by the WSGC, but there's nothing they can do about it! To check their hours of gaming operation go here (http://www.wsgc.wa.gov/docs/Casino%20Hours.pdf)
One last word about Poker. If you want the biggest Poker room around, then Spirit Mt. is where to go (sorry, Jim). For the best looking poker tables go to Chinook Winds (3 tables?). They are both non-smoking poker rooms where in La Center I DO wear a mask with canister filters (no joke).
Later!
