Arguably, the greatest Atlantic City chip, albeit notched, is being auctioned on eBay, the auction closing Thursday night. It is RES-5a Ð Resorts $5.00 Baccarat chip. I am told by AC experts that only 10-15 are known to exist in unnotched condition. The notched one auctioned now is the only notched RES-5a that anyone knows of, and now is your opportunity to own this excellent-condition prized chip for a fraction of the value of an unnotched one. It may be your only chance to own this chip.

Black's latest AC catalog (2001 edition) values it in unnotched excellent condition at $3000-$3500. The only other Atlantic City chips that I know of (from all the AC casinos) that have a greater price guide value is RES-20 and RES-100b.

Campiglia and Wells, in their "The Official U.S. Casino Chip Price Guide," state, "A drilled, notched or cancelled chip is generally worth about 30% of what it would be if it weren't damaged." I recently sold some high-end notched Nevada chips at the same ratio.
