*** Why someone would be upset over an extremely limited chip release ***

I have a hokey analogy so bear with me. Let’s compare chip collecting to jogging. I know, I know. That’s probably one thing we all need is more exercise and less chipping but here it goes…

Let’s say we all like to jog (collect chips). Some of us after awhile decide to do something very unique. Something special like running in the New York Marathon (obtain a complete collection of Hard Rock chips or A.C. Chips, etc). So you train (do some research) and decide, “Yea, let’s go for it”. You know how tough it’s going to be. There’s this hill (Cure Chip) and that hill (Riff Raff) and the big finish, (The Cinco Chip). You know how much time you need to invest in obtaining this goal ($$$$). So let’s say you start the race and everything's going great. You’re doing well and then BAM (not a reference to Bam Bam). You get to the near the of the race and you see what the organizers have tossed into the rules for the last mile... You have to climb the Empire State Building (Hagar Chip)! You didn’t expect this! Would you have started the race knowing this information? So now you have to decide what to do. Continue on or quit. I’m a goal oriented person and do not like to quit anything I set my mind to. I’m 24 miles into the race and do I want to quit? No! I’d be very disappointed to quit now. Sure, I love to collect chips and will continue to do so but I hate quitting a special project. Especially after all the time and $$$ involved in getting to the point where I’m at. I think this is where some of the disappointment comes from other collectors. It is for me anyway.

If I knew I had to climb the Empire State Building in order to complete the New York Marathon, I probably would not have even started the race. I would just be happy to jog around the block everyday. Likewise, when I started collecting chips, I enjoyed acquiring all different types. I got especially interested in the Hard Rock chips and did some research. I found out getting a Cinco would be expensive. I knew the other chips would be hard to get. But after getting to the end of the race and see what the organizers of the race has done, I’d rather to just go back to jogging (chipping) and forget about having a complete collection of Hard Rocks.
