Re: Awwww...you removed that lovely patina!

I have to admit it does seem to work very well. However, I have to agree with the subject line of your post. Whether you were serious or not, I have been taking a great appreciation for the "Patina" that you mention on table worn chips. In my opinion, Table Chips should look like they have been played. It is especially nice when the grime gets into the engraving on the chips. That chip was a wonderful example as is the $5 Orleans that I just got and the White Orleans Roulettes that I saw but didn't have the guts to try and take. On my last trip to LV I did keep a 1st Ann. Poker, a Y2K and a $5 House chip that I got playing Blackjack at The Orleans. I did clean the Y2K and the 1st Poker, although they were in great shape and didn't really need much but held back with the $5 House. I soaped up my hands and lightly cleaned the surface but that was it. The dirt in the lettering is the best part of it and I would never want to remove it. The pictured chip in the originating post also shows how the overall dirt on the face of the design, in my opinion, is also very desirable. I might want to lightly clean a chip to remove loose grit that makes the chip feel dirty but would never want to remove that "PATINA".

I haven't photographed my recent Acquisitions but probably should. There is something really nice about game played and worn chips. I have a few roulettes on order or on the way from eBay auctions. Hopefully they too will have a nice patina and I will photograph them with my others. That might make a good picture to make a case for leaving old chips dirty and alone.
